LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said agents were investigating after a person was found dead inside a burned building Wednesday morning.
The TBI said crews responded to a house fire on Stinking Creek Road in LaFollette. It said an investigation into the fire was active and additional information about the fire, such as the identity of the victim and the cause of the flames, was not immediately available.
Agents are working alongside the Campbell County Sheriff's Office to learn more about the fire.
CCSO said Rural Fire Service was sent to the fire at around 8:02 a.m. on Wednesday. The fire was located at Creekside Market, and crews were told that a victim could be inside when they arrived. That victim was found dead once the fire was contained.
The White Oak Fire Department, Caryville Fire Department, Jellico Rescue Squad and Campbell County Emergency Management crews helped put out the fire.
