KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville community will have a chance to learn ways they can save money and energy during an event in March.
The Knoxville Utilities Board will host an expo and job fair at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley on March 21 at 967 Irwin Street in Knoxville. This will be a hands-on event for KUB to speak with customers, share resources and give demonstrations about a variety of topics.
The event will take place from 2 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. and will cover topics such as career opportunities, KUB fiber and electric reliability. They also plan to teach their customers about their electric, fiber, natural gas and wastewater systems. The utility's fiber system is still in the process of being developed, and it will be available to customers in phases.
KUB will also show customers the best ways to save energy and water, as well as ways to go green in their households. KUB said during the winter, people can lower their thermostats and dress in layers to use less energy. They should also insulate pipes during the winter to help make sure they don't burst.
The event will also feature a kids' activity station, in addition to many other resources.
The KUB president said in a news release that meeting customers face-to-face allows them to understand our community better and connect them with KUB resources that meet their needs. According to KUB, the utility company provides more than 486,000 customers in Knoxville and parts of seven surrounding counties with safe and reliable services.
