KPD: No fatal wrecks reported in city over Fourth of July weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department released a traffic report on Monday covering the Fourth of July holiday weekend. This weekend ran from 4 p.m. EDT on Wednesday through Sunday, July 7. 

According to KPD, there were no fatal wrecks reported in the city of Knoxville over the holiday weekend, but the department did list the following: 

  • Total crashes under investigation: 32
  • Crashed with injury: 6
  • Warning citations: 299
  • Motorists assisted: 60 
  • Total citations: 423
  • Speeding citations: 138

KPD also said there was a total of five DUI arrests over the holiday weekend. 

"KPD officers worked around the clock throughout the 4th of July holiday to conduct high-visibility traffic patrols to prevent reckless driving and keep the roads safe," KPD said.
