Knoxville Police announced Tuesday a woman running from a shooting that killed Jajuan Latham, 12, lost her baby when she fell seeking shelter.
KPD said the woman, who was not identified, had been seven months pregnant at the time.
The violence Reduction Task Force – including members of the Violent Crimes Unit, the Organized Crime Unit, the Repeat Offender Squad and Chief David Rausch - visited the residence of a “person of concern” Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Latham was killed during an “exchange of gunfire between …two vehicles and people attending a gathering at Danny Mayfield Park.”
KPD said the investigation continues as they conduct interviews and review evidence from the Saturday shooting.
Latham was a cousin of Zaevion Dobson, who was killed while shielding friends from gunfire back in December.
