KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A man is dead after crashing into a pickup truck on Western Avenue Tuesday evening, according to the Knoxville Police Department. Officials believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
At around 7:45 p.m., KPD responded to the Western Avenue and Knoxville College Drive area to investigate a motorcycle and pickup truck crash.
Authorities said that the motorcycle was traveling west on Western Avenue, possibly going over 100 mph. That's when the motorcyclist crashed into the rear of the pickup truck, which had turned onto Western Avenue from 21st Street, according to the investigation.
The 35-year-old was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation remains ongoing.
