KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The Knoxville Police Department arrested a man Monday evening after officers responded to a reported in-progress robbery at Buddy's BBQ on Kingston Pike.
According to KPD, officers got the call around 6:55 p.m. and the Knox County Dispatch said a man was holding a restaurant employee at gunpoint.
Officers arrived to find the suspect standing behind the cash register, and he was confronted and arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported, KPD said.
KPD has identified the suspect as Derrick Deion Harris, 27, of Knoxville, he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, cash and a small amount of marijuana.
According to records, Harris had a prior felony conviction, KPD said.
Harris was charged with aggravated robbery, convicted felon in possession of a weapon, possession of a handgun while under the influence and simple possession.
