KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department says they are investigating a death that happened late Tuesday night in the area of Merchant Drive and Central Avenue Pike.
According to KPD, officers responded to the location around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 where a man was found unresponsive on the sidewalk and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Both KPD Crime Scene Technicians and Medical Examiner's Office personnel responded to the scene but were unable to determine a cause of death, KPD says.
Officials located a vehicle nearby that had crashed off of the roadway. The driver was interviewed and arrested at the scene.
