KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — According to the Knoxville Police Department, it is investigating a hit-and-run that happened overnight Friday along Maryville Pike in South Knoxville.
KPD said nobody was found in the vehicle, but there were signs of alcohol consumption.
"There is absolutely no reason for driving under the influence," said KPD. "Always use a sober driver or ride-share app. Our officers are committed to stopping DUI offenders and holding them accountable for their reckless choices."
KPD also added that over 13,000 people died in 2022 from DUI-related crashes in the United States, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Information such as the identity of the people involved or exactly when the wreck occurred is not known at this time. This story will be updated when more information is available.
