KPD identifies victim from deadly motorcycle crash on Millertown Pike

The department said it believes the driver lost control while attempting to go around a curve, and that speed was a factor in the crash.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (6/24): The Knoxville Police Department identified the victim from the motorcycle crash on Millertown Pike.

KPD identified the victim as 22-year-old Zachary Myers. 

They said the wreck happened around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday near the Spring Hill Road intersection. Myers was then taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, KPD said. 

Police believe the driver lost control while attempting to go around a curve and that speed was a factor in the crash.

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that happened on Millertown Pike on Sunday afternoon. 

The wreck occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the Spring Hill Road intersection. A man was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and pronounced dead, KPD said. 

The department said it believes the driver lost control while attempting to go around a curve, and that speed was a factor in the crash.

KPD also said the identity of the victim will not be released as the investigation is ongoing.
