KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (4/29): The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who was shot and killed by police officers Saturday morning.
Jamauri D. Griffin, 25, was shot by Knoxville officers during a "domestic situation" at a house in the 4700 block of Santala Drive, the Knoxville Police Department said.
Officers shot Griffin after he shot a woman in the face, according to KPD.
Records show that KPD responded to the same address Feb. 7 regarding a domestic disturbance. During that incident, Griffin fired a gun multiple times at his ex-girlfriend's rear driver's side tires while she tried to get away from Griffin after he became agitated.
Records identify the targeted victim in that case as Winter Basurto. She lived at the home.
In the February incident, records state Griffin was at the home when Basurto arrived. He had flowers, a warrant states, and he wanted to get back with her.
The victim told police she didn't want to get back with him and he became "agitated and destroyed the flowers."
When she tried to leave, he fired gunshots, according to the warrant.
Griffin was charged with reckless endangerment and vandalism after the victim reported the incident to the police. He was scheduled to appear in court in May, according to records.
