KPD: Public safety notice issued after fake parking ticket left on resident's car

The Knoxville Police Department said this was the only fake ticket in circulation that it knows about.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department issued a public safety announcement after a fake parking ticket claiming to be from KPD was left on a person's car. The police department posted about the fake ticket on social media Tuesday.

KPD said this ticket is the only one in circulation that it knows of, but also said the city needs to be aware of the danger.

"The pictured citation, which is the only one of its kind that we are aware of right now, is not an authentic KPD citation," KPD said.

If a citation is received that looks like the fraudulent one or appears to be suspicious, KPD asked that you call Knoxville Municipal Court to verify its authenticity. It's available at 865-215-4311, according to its website.
