Knoxville will host 2019 Bassmaster Classic

City and county leaders expect the participants and fans of the tournament will fill Knoxville's hotels and enjoy our local restaurants and other activities.

Knoxville — The "Super Bowl of bass fishing" is coming to Knoxville.

Visit Knoxville and B.A.S.S. announced on Wednesday that the best fishermen, their families and their fans will converge on the city from March 15-17, 2019 for the GEICO Bassmaster Classic.

"Knoxville meets and exceeds all the requirements we have for the Bassmaster Classic--- great fishing on the Tennessee River, first-class facilities to accommodate crowds of fishing fans, a vibrant city with plenty to see and do, and a corps of state and local tourism professionals who will ensure its success," said B.A.S.S.CEO Bruce Akin.

It's a free family-friendly event, with opportunities for fans to watch the boats on the water and the weigh-ins at Thompson Boling Arena. The Knoxville Convention Center will also host activities.

City and county leaders expect the participants and fans of the tournament will fill Knoxville's hotels and enjoy our local restaurants and other activities.

"Bass fishing is hugely popular in this part of the country," Akin said. "In fact, 10 of our 109 Bassmaster Elite Series pros are from the Volunteer State, and most live in East Tennessee. This is going to be a very exciting Classic.
