KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Throughout the summer, Knoxville leaders organize a series of performances meant to bring out local musicians and bands, giving families and friends a chance to spend fun evenings together in the warm weather.

It's called the Second Saturday Concerts and is held on the second Saturday of each month in July through August. The latest performance will be on July 13. Organizers are planning to host Matt Woods and The Natural Disasters at The Cove at Concord Park. The performance is expected to start at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. and is free to attend.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs and food. No alcohol is allowed.

Woods' music rings of country music and folk, but with heavier-than-expected vocals and guitar strums that may remind listeners of classic rock.

"You can call it Americana, folk rock, even country music but no matter what it’s called it is, at its core, honest and heartfelt," Visit Knoxville said about his music.

His biography said he "is a product of a lifetime in East Tennessee," with roots in the region.
