KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said a Knox County school bus with dozens of students on board was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon. No injuries were reported, according to KPD.
Initially, KPD said 40 students were on board. Later Knox County Schools said 20 were onboard.
It said the crash was reported on Tazewell Pike just south of Jacksboro Pike. KPD said it was a multi-vehicle crash. KPD also said on social media that officers were responding, and images shared on social media showed a firetruck responding as well as a car with front-end damage.
Three cars were involved in the crash as well as the bus, when it hit an SUV which caused two others to be impacted. Some people were taken to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said.
KCS said it was Bus 701. Students on the bus were picked up by another bus to be transported home, according to KCS.
