KPD identifies man who died in single-car crash on Rutledge Pike

The victim wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was thrown out of the car, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (1/22):

The Knoxville Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal Rutledge Pike crash.

52-year-old Michael Eastridge was traveling east on Rutledge Pike when he over-corrected. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was thrown out of the car, according to KPD. 

KPD said investigators believe that the condition of the car's tires was a contributing factor in the crash.

An investigation is underway after a single-car crash Sunday morning resulted in one death.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to a crash on Rutledge Pike near Woods Creek Road shortly before 7 a.m. 

KPD said a car was traveling east on Rutledge Pike and over-corrected. This caused the car to roll over into the median. The driver was an adult man and was thrown out of the car, KPD said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No other people or cars were involved, according to KPD.

KPD's Crash Reconstruction Investigators are continuing to investigate.

The victim's identity is not known at this time.
