KPD: 3 DUI arrests reported during Christmas holiday

The Knoxville Police Department also said officers made three arrests for driving under the influence over Christmas.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said no fatal crashes were reported in the city over the Christmas holiday in 2023. However, officers said they investigated 28 crashes — nine of which involved injuries.

According to KPD, officers also made three arrests for driving under the influence during the Christmas holiday. The enforcement period ran from 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Dec. 25.

Officers also gave out 33 speeding citations, as well as 218 warning citations over the holiday period. 

KPD previously said more officers are expected on the roads and posted in the downtown area during the upcoming New Year's holiday to deter drinking and driving and to prevent other kinds of crime.
