KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A 35-year-old man was found guilty of murdering his roommate following an argument about cleaning up dog poop.

The Knox County District Attorney's Office said Stefen White, 35, was convicted of second-degree murder. He's scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 21 and faces 15 to 25 years in prison.

White shot and killed the victim after an argument at a home on East Oldham Avenue on Dec. 23, 2023.

According to the DA's Office, White refused to clean up after his dogs, sparking the argument. White pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot the victim in the chest three times. Responding officers attempted to save the victim's life. They were later pronounced dead as a result of their wounds.

White told police the victim punched him but none of the witness statements and the lack of injuries corroborated his account.
