Knoxville was recently named Etsy's first Maker's City and people in this maker community said what's happening here is just the tip of the iceberg!
The story telling community in Knoxville welcomed a well known podcast called "Story" to expand on what's being called the Makers Movement in Knoxville. It gave people in Knoxville a chance to network and learn more from other successful makers.
"So many people are coming together to make Knoxville a maker city," Jonathan Halley said.
Knoxville is becoming known for being a city at the forefront of creation and imagination. Jonathan Halley is a contributor to the movement and started Big Slate Media and tells stories for a living.
"Our tagline is "we make videos that don't suck." It's kind of edgy and out there," Halley said.
Halley said there is no wrong way to tell a story and everybody and everything has one.
There's a lot of creators of all types. People making things out of wood, paintings, drawing or making videos like we make.
Local Makers said Knoxville's artistic side shows the passion for the makers movement.
"People are taking the time out of there day. Everyone is busy, but they are taking time out of their day to pour their effort into their craft and that's what I love," Halley said.
One of the many events coming up in the makers community is called the Makers City Summit. Here you can ask experts anything from business, marketing and sales aspects of a new start up you may have in the works.
