KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville law enforcement agencies are extending their help to surrounding areas impacted by flooding from Helene.
The Knoxville Police Department said a group of KPD and Knoxville Fire Department search and rescue team members were deployed to Washington County on Monday morning to assist in ground search efforts.
KPD said its deployment was in response to a TN Emergency Management request for assistance.
The Tennessee National Guard said it saved multiple people during rescue missions on Saturday and performed nearly 60 aerial rescues on Friday.
On Sunday, KFD and KPD were also deployed to Carter County to help the National Guard deliver supplies to those impacted.
Many local agencies, including the Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Blount County Sheriff's Office, are also collecting items for those in need.
