Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon meets with winners from Tuesday's election for breakfast

At the breakfast table were Tyler Caviness, who will serve as a municipal judge, and Debbie Helsley, who will serve on the City Council.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The 2023 Knoxville election wrapped up on Tuesday, when voters decided who they wanted to serve on three at-Large City Council seats and chose who they wanted to serve as municipal judge. The following morning, on Wednesday, Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon met with the winners for breakfast.

Tyler Caviness was there, who won the race for municipal judge. He was joined by Debbie Helsley, who won the race for the Knoxville City Council at-Large Seat B. According to a post on social media, she was also joined by an incumbent who ran unopposed for the District 5 City Council seat — Charles Thomas.

"That's what the elections are really a great reminder of. This is public service. We're here to serve the public, and the election reminds us of what the public wants and needs," said Kincannon.

In the election, City Council member Amelia Parker also kept her seat after winning against Tim Hill.

Kincannon secured her second term as Knoxville's mayor in August during the primary election, when she won outright.

The winners of this year's city elections are expected to be sworn in during the second half of December, but no official date is available yet.
