New Knox County dog park opens at New Harvest Park

The grand opening was held at New Harvest Dog Park at 4775 New Harvest Lane at 10 a.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County opened a new dog park at New Harvest Park on May 29, and Mayor Glenn Jacobs was set to officially cut the ribbon on Wednesday morning.

"Bring your best friend for the grand opening of the New Harvest Dog Park, 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 4775 New Harvest Lane, Knoxville," the county said.

The county plans to build three more dog parks in the next couple of years, with the Boyd Family Foundation donating $250,000 to help build the parks. The county will donate around $150,000.

Knox County held a contest in 2020 and five parks were chosen. Beverly Park was the first of the five to open in the summer of 2022.

Work began at New Harvest Park in October 2020, and leaders said it would feature a half-acre of space for dogs 30 lbs. and under. Another acre would be set aside for dogs over 30 lbs.
