KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading an investigation after a deputy shot a man in West Knox County Monday morning. The bureau identified him as Bryan Testerman Jr., 57, a well-known area developer.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's Office received a call of a possible prowler in the 8000 block of Isherwood Lane around 6:34 a.m. after shots were heard in the neighborhood.
After deputies arrived, they found an armed man, KCSO said. This is when SWAT and the Negotiations team were called to the scene.
WBIR learned that the man did not live in the home.
A short time later, and due to circumstances that are under active investigation by TBI, the suspect was shot by a KCSO deputy, KCSO said.
According to TBI, deputies said the man refused to drop the weapon when told to. Agents said at some point during the encounter, a deputy shot the man "for reasons still under investigation."
Agents said the man was pronounced dead after he was taken to a local hospital.
