KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) is offering free rides on Election Day.

In a press release Monday, KAT said this is part of an initiative created to help all community members have accessible transportation to reach their polling places.

The city-wide fare-free service is available to everyone on all KAT routes, including fixed-route buses and the Lift department, Knoxville's paratransit service for individuals with disabilities.

“Election Day is a critical moment for our community to come together and make their voices heard," Director of Transit for the city of Knoxville Isaac Thorne said. "By offering free rides across our system, we’re helping to make that process as accessible as possible for everyone. I encourage all Knoxville residents to take advantage of this opportunity to get to the polls and participate in our shared future.”

KAT's regular schedules and routes will be followed on Election Day. Riders can find route and schedule information on the KAT website or on the Transit app.
