KARNS, Tenn. — Karns Preschool opened a new playground on Thursday morning, expanding to be safer for its students. School officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning to officially open the space.
The preschool used to be attached to Karns Elementary School, but the two schools continued to share a playground even after it got its own building.
"Before this playground was here, our students had to walk across the parking lot to use the elementary school's playground," said Jacob Harris, Principal of Karns Preschool. "Before this was here, this was just a yard. A yard with one house."
That meant all 108 students would have to cross the parking lot every day to the playground and back. Now, with the new playground, students can just go outside and play.
