<Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries set a new record by handing out 11,000 coats Saturday morning at its annual "Coats for the Cold" distribution.Dozens of volunteer personal shoppers helped people in need find coats and winter accessories.Community members donated the coats, and Prestige Cleaners cleaned them before distribution.KARM marketing Manger Sue Renfro said the non-profit is thankful for the outpouring of community support.The annual coat drive started more than 25-years-ago after a Knoxville homeless man froze to death. "Eight-thousand, five hundred has been really our top number in the past," said Renfro. "So to have almost a third more than we've ever had before just shows the wonderful community spirit that we experience, and we're so grateful."<
