KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Zoo Knoxville announced they'll have "Early Bird Hours" in July to allow guests more activity time during cooler hours.
The zoo will open at 8 a.m. from Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 31.
Opening an hour early will allow guests to see what goes on behind the scenes as Zoo Knoxville's animal care team works to prepare enrichment in animal habitats. Pop-up surprises, like animal ambassador visits, presentations of biofacts and natural history about the animals and zoo mascots, will also happen in the first hour of the day.
Zoo Knoxville said early morning hours are the best for animal activity and the entire park will be open for guests to explore.
“With the intense heat forecasted for the next few days, we wanted to be considerate of our guests’ experience and give them the option to be here in the early morning hours when it is the most enjoyable,” Interim President and CEO Drew Rowan said. “It will allow them to have a full Zoo experience so they are getting the value of their ticket or membership purchase, plus it also happens to be the best time to see a lot of animal activity.”
