KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee women's basketball guard Jewel Spear will return for a second season at Tennessee. Spear announced on Sunday that she will use her COVID-19 year of eligibility.
After three seasons, Spear transferred from Wake Forest to play for the Lady Vols in the 2023-24 season. She clicked instantly with the team and impacted the game on both sides.
Spear averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists in her first season at Tennessee. She was also one of two players to start every game this season. The high-energy guard was a force offensively, especially with Rickea Jackson, UT's leading scorer, out for eight games earlier in the season.
Spear wrote a message on X that said, "Thank you, Rocky Top, for welcoming me with open arms. I appreciate the support and love from my coaches, teammates and the fans. Excited to run it back with my Lady Vol Family. There is more work to be done!"
