Funeral arrangements announced for fallen soldier from Knoxville

On Monday, Oct. 23, Spc. Jeremy Daniel Evans will be buried with full military honors.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A fallen 23-year-old Army soldier from Knoxville will be buried at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. 

Spc. Jeremy Daniel Evans died in a vehicle wreck at a military base in Alaska on Oct. 2.  His funeral is taking place at Clear Springs Baptist Church on Tazewell Pike on Sunday, Oct. 22, according to officials. 

A funeral motorcade will leave Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel on East Emory Road at 12:45 p.m. and arrive at the church around 1:15 p.m. 

The Evans family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service. 

On Monday, Oct. 23, Evans will be buried with full military honors. 

Evans joined the Army in July 2020 and trained at Fort Moore in Georgia before arriving in Alaska in January 2021.  He served in the 11th Airborne Division as a specialist and managed other lower-ranked enlisted soldiers.
