JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Two people were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a crash on Highway 92 in Jefferson County, according to the New Market Fire and Rescue team.
It said one person had to be extricated from the car by fire department crews and was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. That person's wife was also taken to the hospital in an ambulance, according to New Market Fire and Rescue.
The crash was reported on Highway 92 near Fielden Store Road and caused "congestive traffic."
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Judd Morgan failed to stop in time when Carmen Vasquez slowed down in front of him to turn left off the road. Judd then swerved to avoid hitting the slowing vehicle, but the boat trailer attached to his truck hit Vaquez's car.
A third car with Karen and Dennis Morgan was swiped by Judd's truck and then ran off the roadway, said THP. Karen and Dennis went down a "steep embankment" hitting multiple trees and bushes before stopping.
THP said charges are now pending for Judd and Vasquez.
Additional information, such as circumstances surrounding the crash and the identities of anyone involved, was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
