The Jefferson County High School football team will kickoff the new season under new lights.
Back in May, school leaders were warned not to turn on the old lights for safety reasons.
The aging lights had been causing problems for several years. a delay last fall when they went out during a thunderstorm. An electrician was eventually able to get them working again, but determined that the wiring needed some serious attention.
The school was able to find the money to buy new lights, and the installation was finished this week.
The team will play their first game under those lights next Friday.
