Medford volunteer firefighter injured while helping clear downed trees in Anderson County, authorities say

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A member of the Medford Volunteer Fire Department was injured Friday while responding to calls about downed trees along Landrum Road.

Matthew Burrell, an emergency management coordinator with Anderson County Emergency Management said a group of volunteer firefighters were responding to a call about the trees. He said some trees had been blown into a powerline, and the weather knocked down at least 20 trees in the area.

He also said information about the injured firefighter's condition was not immediately available. The firefighter was taken to a hospital Friday evening.

He said authorities would conduct a safety review of the situation.
