KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Ijams Nature Center is hosting a "BioBlitz" event where those who attend will find and identify as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time.
The event will start on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. and continue until around 4 p.m. on April 27. BioBlitz will be held at Ijam's Nature Center and will host a variety of nature challenges and events, including a night hike and a wildflower walk, Ijams said.
Some other events included during BioBlitz will be:
- Fantastic Fungi
- Spring Birding
- Spring Tree ID
"Ijams Nature Center is proud to partner with Zoo Knoxville, Discover Life in America, Sierra Club and the City of Knoxville to coordinate a BioBlitz for the City Nature Challenge 2024," the center said.
The City Nature Challenge is an event in which cities all over the world collaborate to observe as much wildlife as possible.
"Help us record observations of wild plants, animals, fungi and more to see how much nature we can find across the planet while learning who lives nearby!" Ijams said.
The workshops during the event are completely free. However, those who wish to attend are required to register on the nature center's website.
