The Knoxville Police Department said it's investigating a fatal overnight crash on I-40 East.
Around 11:40 p.m. Thursday, KPD officers responded to I-40 between Midway Road and Strawberry Plains Pike. They found a car that had rolled over after possibly crossing the median from the westbound lanes, according to KPD.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and struck by a tractor-trailer that was no longer on the scene. The passenger, also an adult man, was taken to a hospital with injuries, KPD said.
The victim's family dog, Oden, was also in the car at the time of the crash, KPD said.
The two-year-old white husky ran away after the crash and currently remains missing. KPD asks that anyone with information on Oden's location contact shenard@knoxvilletn.gov.
The crash remains under investigation.
