Hwy 33 bridge in Union County fully open

(UNION COUNTY) All lanes of the new Highway 33 bridge in Union County are open.

The bridge opened about 6 p.m. Friday.

The new Highway 33 bridge was built alongside an older structure.

Crews were supposed to open earlier Friday afternoon but needed more time to pave and stripe the lanes.

Some 9,500 vehicles are expected to cross the bridge over the Clinch River daily.
