GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Eight years after wildfires tore through Sevier County, a Gatlinburg landmark is reopening.

The Highlands of the Smokies Gatlinburg vacation resort was destroyed in November 2016, claiming the lives of 14 people.

A managing partner of the Highlands said the new condos offer million-dollar views of the Smokies and downtown Gatlinburg.

“The iconic Highlands of the Smokies condos burned in the Gatlinburg fires of 2016 and have been rebuilt to be one of the most unique luxury vacation condos in the area,” Joy Maples, managing partner of the Highlands of the Smokies, said. "Along with breathtaking views from your private balcony, you can unwind in the magnificent living area, or whip up a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen. With modern furnishings and thoughtful touches throughout, you’ll feel right at home from the moment you arrive."

The modern mountain, luxury Gatlinburg vacation condos offer two to five bedrooms. Amenities include an outdoor pool and hot tub, an on-site office and lounge, a fitness center and more, according to the resort.
