Helicopter suffers engine problems, lands in a field near Walland, FAA says

The FAA said six people were aboard the helicopter when the pilot reported engine issues.

WALLAND, Tenn. — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a helicopter filled with people had to make an unplanned landing in a field in Blount County on Thursday.

According to the FAA, a Bell 206 helicopter was flying Thursday when the pilot reported engine issues around 2:40 p.m. 

The pilot put the helicopter down in a field near Walland off Old Walland Highway, according to the FAA and Blount County Sheriff's Office.

Six people were aboard the helicopter. No one was believed to be injured, according to BCSO.

The helicopter is owned by RotorPro, LLC in Sevierville, according to its FAA records. 

The FAA said it would release a preliminary report in the next few days.
