GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. — The U.S. Marshals are looking for a federal prison inmate who escaped from custody in Greene County Wednesday morning.
Sean Williams escaped around 7:30 a.m. during a prisoner transport, according to U.S. Marshals.
The Green County Sheriff's Department said Williams was last seen on Summer Street in Greeneville around 8:30 a.m. wearing "jail-type" clothes.
Williams is 51 years old, 5'11" and weighs 170 pounds. He has blue eyes and is believed to have a shaved head, according to the GCSD.
The inmate is facing numerous charges of rape, distribution of meth and sexual assault of a minor, the U.S. Marshals said. They said he is "desperate" to escape custody and has attempted previously. Now, he also faces charges of escape.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation also said it was offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest. The U.S. Marshals also said they are offering up to $2,500, totaling up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Authorities also said a separate investigation is underway into how Williams was able to escape from custody.
