Hamblen County deputies arrested a former English instructor at Walters State Community College for aggravated statutory rape.
According to a Hamblen County Sheriff's Office release, David Alexander Adams III, 42, of Morristown picked up a 14-year-old girl in Cocke County and drove her to his home where he apparently attacked her.
Deputies said Alexander messaged the victim on Facebook. Within 24 hours of receiving the report of the rape, officials issued an arrest warrant against Adams.
Authorities are holding Adams on a $100,000 bond, and his arraignment is set for next week.
A spokesperson with Walters State Community College confirmed that Alexander taught English at the college from Jan. 2009 until May 2014.
