GPD: No serious injuries reported after train crashes into tractor-trailer in Greeneville Monday afternoon

The Greeneville Police Department said although the truck driver was not injured, the train engine had "major damage" and was left on the scene for repairs.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — A train crashed into a trailer hauled by a semi-truck Monday afternoon, damaging the trailer but leaving the semi-truck intact.

The Greeneville Police Department said no serious injuries were reported, but the train engine had "major damage" and had to be left on the scene for repairs.

Officers responded to calls about the crash near the intersection of Coile Street and Snapps Ferry Road. A police report said the tractor-trailer was turning left from Snapps Ferry Roan onto Coile Street and tried to drive over the railroad tracks.

However, officers said the driver failed to yield the right of way and the trailer was hit by the train.

Its conductor "complained of wrist pain" and was evaluated on the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
