Court docs: Greenville man admitted to killing parents with machete

Deputies said the couple's son, Jesse Wilhoit, 35, was taken into custody in connection to the murders. His bond is set at $2 million.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — Editor's Note: The  Greene County Sheriff's Office originally said Cassandra Wilhoit was 68 years old and Ray "Allen" Wilhoit was 60 years old. They sent out a correction later that Cassandra Wilhoit was 60 years old and Ray "Allen Wilhoit" was 68 years old.

A man accused of killing his parents made his first court appearance Monday. 

According to court documents obtained by WCYB, Jessie Wilholt, 35, admitted to killing both of his parents with a machete.

According to a press release from the sheriff's department, deputies responded to a home in the 500 block of Hartman Lane in Greeneville where they found two people dead. Officials identified the victims as Cassandra Wilhoit, 60, and Ray "Allen" Wilhoit, 68.  

Deputies said Wilhoit was taken into custody in connection to the murders. After consulting the District Attorney's Office, GCSD detectives charged Wilhoit with two counts of first-degree murder.  His bond is set at $2 million.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents assisted the GCSD Criminal Investigation Division with the investigation.
