GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. — Police said that skeletal remains were found in Greene County Tuesday morning by a hunter.

They say that they met with the hunter on Idell Road in the Mohawk area. Police said that the hunter led Sheriff Holt to what appeared to be a human skull.

The area was processed, and authorities said they found more remains in the area.

“The remains have obviously been here quite a while,” said Sheriff Holt. “We are hopeful that we can get the remains identified to bring someone’s family some closure.”

The remains were sent to East Tennessee State Univeristy's William L. Jenkins Forensic Center in hopes of making an identification.
