Grace Rivera named Tennessee's first female Chief Deputy US Marshal

Grace Rivera comes to East Tennessee from Washington, D.C. where she served as Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — David Jolley, the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee, announced the new Chief Deputy United States Marshal on Tuesday.

Grace Rivera is the first female Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for any of the state's three federal judicial districts, according to Jolley. She is replacing Frank Castiglia, who retired at the end of 2023 after 10 years, Jolley said.

Rivera previously served as Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal in the District of Columbia Superior Court, where she oversaw general operations, training and more. Her career with the U.S. Marshals began 10 years ago through an internship program.

“Chief Rivera was selected for her extensive operational and field experience, and her remarkable reputation for successfully leading change under adverse circumstances. She has accumulated a very well-rounded resume of the right skillsets that made her ready for promotion to the Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal position," Jolley said.
