White Pine Fire Dept. mourns loss of founding member and former fire chief Gordon Pack

He was the longest-serving fire chief from 1965 to 1993, which resulted in the current fire station being named in his honor.

WHITE PINE, Tenn. — The White Pine Fire Department announced the passing of former member and Fire Chief Gordon Pack Monday afternoon. He was 87.

Pack was a founding member of WPFD, he was involved in the early development of the department. He was also the longest-serving fire chief from 1965 to 1993, which resulted in the current fire station being named in his honor.

"We ask that you keep the Pack Family in your thoughts and prayers," White Pine Fire said in a social media post. "Gordon's legacy of service and faith will continue through those he loved."

Pack's funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church in White Pine. Rev. Jim Price, Rev. Brian Osborne and Rev. Charlie Harkleroad will officiate the service. The family will receive friends between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Graveside interment will be on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. in White Pine Cemetery.

The Pack family requested that instead of flowers, donations may be made to the White Pine Fire Department or The Gideon's International at gideons.org
