Georgia pilot doesn't remember crashing plane in Tenn.

UPDATE: The Rhea County Sheriff's Department has identified the pilot of a plane that crashed Monday on Dayton Mountain.

Theodore Owens, 71, of Jasper, Georgia, was flying a Rockwell International 112A. After the crash, he was taken to Erlanger Medical Center where he's in critical condition.

Owens told authorities he was flying home from Illinois.

When asked what had happened, Owens wasn't sure and said he didn't remember anything.

A small plane has crashed on Dayton Mountain in Rhea County, dispatchers confirm to Chattanooga NBC-affiliate WRCB-TV.

The incident happened near the 1700 block of Walkertown Road.

First responders told WRCB that one man, identified as the pilot, was taken from the crash scene to a local hospital.

No word on the severity of his injuries.

The pilot was flying to Atlanta from Illinois when the crash occurred. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
