KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A well-known wedding and event venue in Knoxville is closing its doors at the end of 2024.

The Foundry on the Fair Site owner Marianne Greene confirmed to WBIR that she's in the process of selling the building to a local organization, which she didn't name.

Greene said the sale was a difficult decision and it was emotional for her to say goodbye after 31 years, but felt it was time to close this chapter.

Greene bought the building in 1993. According to the venue's website, the building served as a foundry in the 1800s. It fell into disuse, burned and was later renovated to host the Strohaus Restaurant during the 1982 World's Fair.

The venue will have all its regular Christmas events and then close at the end of December.
