Knoxville crews to deep clean Fort Sanders roads again this weekend, cars may need to be moved

Vehicles will need to be moved on clean-up days. They are scheduled for July 13, July 14, July 27 and July 28.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Crews will move through the Fort Sanders area over two weekends in July, deep cleaning the roads and making sure to pick up any trash and grit from hard-to-reach corners of the neighborhood.

Knoxville leaders said crews will clean up Fort Sanders during the weekend of July 13-14, and July 27-28. The city said it schedules clean-up activities around this time to take advantage of summer break, when most University of Tennessee students are off-campus.

People will need to move their cars while crews clean up the area. Vehicles that are not moved before each clean-up will be towed, the city said. The cars need to be moved so crews can reach areas that are otherwise hard to reach.

They will work to refresh street markings, replace signs as needed, sweep the streets, pick up trash, pick up brash and weed the rights-of-way in the area.

Clean-up work starts at 6 a.m. each day and ends at 6 p.m. each day. Traffic is expected to continue driving on the streets, but motorists may face some short-term closures as needed.

On July 13, crews will clean up the roads listed below, on the west side of South Seventeenth Street. Cars will need to be moved off them.
