Tennessee Valley Fair kicks off today!

This year's theme is "fun on the farm." It's meant to connect kids with agriculture through fun festivities. For example, kids will can go on an "agri-venture scavenger hunt" that will take them on a tour of the fair.

(WBIR-Knoxville) The Tennessee Valley Fair is back with fun for the whole family.

The Tennessee Valley Fair kicks off this Friday and runs until September 15th.

The theme is Fun on the Farm.

The fair features new attractions this year:

• Marvelous Mutts - A Canine Spectacular! Adventure Pathway – All 10 Days

• Kiddie Land Fun Tent next to Little Ponderosa Zoo – All 10 Days

• Lego Extravaganza -Tournament of Champions Kerr Building – September 14 – 11:00 AM

• Agventure Scavenger Hunt Livestock Barns – All 10 Days

• Color for the Cure Sunday, September 8: 3:00 – 5:00 PM

•Tiny Tot Pageant Friday Pepsi Community Tent September 6 – 5:30 PM

•"Best Of" Fair Food Competition – Celebrity Judges Frank Murphy from Star 102.1 FM and Katie Roach from WBIR Ch. 10 will judge the wacky culinary creations.

•Doll Show – Make-A-Bear Contest

• Opening Day Special – $1.00 Admission Friday, September 6, 2013 from 3:00 pm to 4:34 pm

• Tailgating Day -- Saturday, September 7, 2013 wear University of Tennessee team colors and get $1.00 off an adult admission.

• Scout Day -- Saturday, September 7, 2013 -- All current Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts (18 years and under) receive FREE admission with proper identification.

• Guidebook $3 Off Coupon -- Monday, September 9 – Thursday, September 12, 2013 -- $3 off an adult admission (w/ coupon) when you come to the Fair on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Coupon available in our 2013 Guidebook or via the Knoxville News Sentinel or Metropulse the week of September 1.

• Fox 43 Student Day -- Monday, September 9, 2013 students 12th grade and under receive FREE admission from 10:00 a.m. until 6 p.m.

• Senior Citizen's Day -- Tuesday, September 10, 2013 -- Seniors age 65+ receive FREE admission all day. Special entertainment, events and contests for seniors in the Pepsi Community Tent.

• Tennessee Education Lottery Day -- Thursday, September 12, 2013 -- $3.00 off adult admission with any non-winning Tennessee Lottery ticket.

• Tailgating Day -- Saturday, September 14, 2013 wear University of Tennessee team colors and get $1.00 off an adult admission.

• Hometown Heroes Day -- Sunday, September 15, 2013 -- current and past military, policeman, deputy sheriffs, fire fighters, first responders & current teachers receive FREE admission with proper identification.
