Say Yes to the Prom Dress is underway at UT

Prom night is one teenaged girls look forward to for years, but not every family can afford to but that perfect dress.

Prom night is one teenaged girls look forward to for years, but not every family can afford to but that perfect dress.

That problem will be solved this weekend at the "Say Yes to the Prom Dress" sale.

The Alpha Chi Omega sorority at U.T. invited women to sell their gently-used formal attire to be resold at a lower price.

Women who choose to sell their dresses will receive 100-percent of the profit, but there is a fee for each item entered.

The proceeds from those entry fees go towards supporting victims of domestic violence.

"This is our first year doing it, and we only expected 250 to 300 dresses, and we've gotten a solid 450 dresses this year," Hannah Byrd, Vice President of Philanthropy for Alpha Chi Omega.

The sale is this Sunday, February 21, at the Alpha Chi Omega house on U.T.'s campus. The address is 2912 Sorority Village Circle. It lasts from 1 until 5.
