Happy 13th Birthday! Triplets celebrate healthcare workers who took care of them as infants

Healthcare workers are on the front lines of the pandemic, and some siblings wanted to show their appreciation.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Like many others celebrating a birthday in the midst of the pandemic, the Moser-Bryan triplets didn't throw a party or go out to eat with their friends. Instead, they made sure their 13th birthday was the most memorable one yet.

They decided to use the occasion to say "thank you" to the healthcare workers at East Tennessee Children's Hospital who cared for them as infants.

"We spent the first month of our lives there. If it wasn’t for them, we probably wouldn’t be here," Rivers Moser-Bryan said.

Their mom helped them create a GoFundMe page to raise money for food they could deliver to workers at the hospital. It snagged the attention of Knoxville Chef John Alunni, who owns The Cutting Edge Classroom — a cooking school for adults.

He, along with the owners of Cinnaholic and Cooks on the Curb, started working to cook food for 300 healthcare workers.

"They’re going to get a really good meal today. Well-deserved for those folks," Alunni said. "We’re just trying to help out the community in any way we can, and we’re partnering up with other businesses to do the same."

Even though there's no birthday party for the triplets, judging by the smiles on their faces as they pulled up to the hospital with all of the food they were donating, it was still the best birthday yet.
