TBI investigating after officer shoots armed man in Fentress County

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Rugby Avenue after receiving a 911 call about a man with a gun, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

JAMESTOWN, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a Jamestown Police Department officer shot a man in Fentress County on Sunday. 

Just before 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 28, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Rugby Avenue in Jamestown after receiving a 911 call about a man with a gun, according to the TBI. 

When JPD officers arrived, they encountered an armed man. For "reasons still under investigation," an officer shot the man, the TBI said. 

The agency said the person was transferred to a hospital for treatment and no officers were hurt.
